Implicaciones históricas y sociales de las protestas indígenas en el ecuador

Este trabajo analiza las implicaciones sociohistóricas del movimiento indígena de Ecuador. En tal virtud, es un artículo de reflexión que se centra en los siguientes apartados: el análisis del levantamiento de 1990, sus luchas, aspiraciones e implicaciones históricas por alcanzar el poder y la participación política. Esta disputa, que inicialmente fue por la defensa de la tierra y respeto a su cultura, dio al movimiento indígena el protagonismo de convertirse en uno de los actores clave y reivindicativos de las necesidades de la sociedad ecuatoriana. En un segundo apartado, se examina la llegada coyuntural al poder en las sublevaciones de 2000. Finalmente, se pone de relieve la presencia del movimiento indígena en los disturbios de octubre de 2019, que, junto con muchos otros movimientos sociales, estudiantiles, gremios del transporte, campesinos y ciudadanía, lucharon por la derogatoria de un decreto que subía el precio de los combustibles.

This work analyzes the socio-historical implications of the indigenous movement in Ecuador; As such, it is a reflection article that focuses on the following sections: the analysis of the 1990 uprising, its struggles, aspirations and historical implications to achieve power and political participation. This dispute, which was initially for the defense of the land and respect for their culture, gave the indigenous movement the leading role of becoming one of the key actors and claiming the needs of Ecuadorian society. In a second section, the conjunctural arrival to power in the uprisings of the year 2000 is examined. Finally, the presence of the indigenous movement in the riots of October 2019 is highlighted, which, together with many other social, student, transport unions, peasants and citizens, fought for the repeal of a Decree that raised the price of fuel.

Esta nota resulta de reflexões iniciais sobre a atual conjuntura brasileira no que tange aos desafios postos aos povos indígenas, diante de um governo declaradamente anti-indígena. Considerando a perspectiva histórica da política indigenista brasileira, observam-se elementos que nos instigam a analisar a relação do Estado com os povos originários e a capacidade que o movimento indígena brasileiro tem de articulação visando à resistência. São necessários saberes e práticas que exigem, cada vez mais, o rompimento com o pensamento autoritário e colonialista tão presente no contexto brasileiro.

This text is product of the initial attempts to think about the current Brazilian conjuncture regarding the challenges posed to indigenous peoples since they are confronted with a government who have declared to be anti-indigenous. From the historical perspective of Brazilian governmental policy towards indigenous, we observe elements that push us to analyze the relationship of the State with the indigenous peoples and the Brazilian indigenous movement' capacity for interacting to resist. Knowledge and practices that demand more and more a break with the authoritarian and colonialist thinking so present in the Brazilian context are indispensable.

Esta nota resulta de reflexiones iniciales a cerca de la coyuntura brasileña actual por lo que se refiere a los desafíos que los pueblos indígenas tienen que enfrentar frente a un Gobierno que expresa clara y determinadamente ser antiindígena. Observando la perspectiva histórica de la política indigenista brasileña, hay elementos que instigan el análisis de la relación del Estado con los pueblos indígenas y la capacidad que el movimiento indígena brasileño tiene de articularse para resistir. Son necesarios saberes y prácticas que exigen cada vez más el rompimiento con el pensamiento autoritario y colonialista tan presente en el contexto brasileño.

El presente artículo fruto de una investigación histórico hermenéutica, procura resaltar cómo los indígenas han logrado en toda la trayectoria del moderno movimiento indígena aprovechar las oportunidades políticas que les ofrece el contexto para potenciar su identidad y en ella su movilización. Como en la recuperación de su identidad, la construcción como colectiva y sujetos políticos han ganado estatura y músculo político al confrontar su identidad con la de otros actores y con la del estado a quien disputan valores, derechos y respeto por su identidad. Han configurado el actor social de mayor prominencia y capacidad de convocatoria y esto es en últimos lo que les coloca en la vanguardia de la lucha social

This current article, a result of a historic-hermeneutic research, aims to highlight how the indigenous people have been able to, along the path of the modern indigenous movement, take advantage of the political opportunities offered by the context, in order to boost their identity and in it, its mobilization. As in the recovery of their identity, the construction as a collective and political subjects, have gained stature and political muscle by collating their identity with that of other actors and with that of the state, to which they compete for values, rights, and respect, for their identity. They have shaped the social actor of major prominence, as well as the capacity of summon, and this is what places them in the vanguard of the social struggle
